Four sound characters
Intensity on the slider. Character in Feel.
The main sliders control how much of each character you hear. The Feel knobs change the design underneath — so the same slider can move from subtle to unstable, clean to broken, or wide to moving without opening another menu.
Memory
Pitch drift, vinyl noise and worn-out movement. Use Feel to move between four kinds of age and instability, from subtle wear to stronger movement and filtering.
Shatter
Grit, crunch and broken digital texture. Feel changes the damage itself, moving between different distortion, bitcrush and tonal characters.
Aura
Width, space and stereo movement. Feel shifts Aura between chorus, modulation, autopan and moving-filter characters while the main slider controls the depth.
Dreamy
Reverb, shimmer, ping-pong delay and reverse atmosphere. Feel moves between four spatial designs while the main slider controls how far the sound drifts away.

Feel controls
Change the character, not just the amount.
Each Feel knob moves freely between four designed modes. At the exact modes you get a focused effect identity; between them, neighbouring modes blend smoothly into new combinations.
Four modes per character
Memory, Shatter, Aura and Dreamy each have four distinct Feel modes. The main slider still controls intensity, while Feel changes the effect behaviour underneath.
Smooth blending
Feel is not locked to four switches. Move anywhere between two modes and both contribute through a tuned blend, without a sudden jump in character.
256 core combinations
Four modes across four characters create 256 core combinations before you even count the positions between them, slider amounts or Global Mix.
Presets and Randomize included
Feel positions are stored inside presets and included in Randomize, so complete sounds can appear in one click and still be adjusted precisely afterwards.
Under the hood
Simple on the surface. Controlled underneath.
Noctra is simple on the surface, but the effects, Feel modes and signal paths are tuned to interact. You can combine characters without rebuilding chains or manually balancing every stage.
The characters are designed together
Noise and digital texture from Memory and Shatter are routed and shaped so they do not simply smear through Dreamy's atmosphere. Combining controls stays more defined.
Dreamy protects the low end
Dreamy's wet paths use mode-dependent low-cut filtering to keep unnecessary bass out of the reverb, shimmer and reverse textures — atmosphere without turning the bottom end into mud.
Memory's noise tracks the source
A high-frequency detector shapes the vinyl noise relative to the input signal. Dark or low-passed sounds don't get buried under constant crackle.
One plugin, no routing required

System requirements
Windows 10 or later with a 64-bit VST3-compatible DAW · macOS with a 64-bit AU- or VST3-compatible DAW · Native support for Apple Silicon and Intel Macs.
What happens to presets used in older projects?
The original 12 factory preset settings are unchanged from Noctra v1.5, so v1.5 projects keep the same saved parameter settings when opened in v1.8. Noctra v1.2 used earlier preset settings. If you need to recreate a v1.2 preset used in an older project, email support@nightfieldaudio.com and we can provide reference images of its original settings.
What do the Feel knobs do?
Each Feel knob changes the effect design behind its main slider. Every character has four modes, and you can move freely between neighbouring modes for blended variations. Feel settings are also stored in presets and included in Randomize.
How do I install Noctra on Windows?
No installer is required. Download the Windows ZIP, extract it, and copy the Noctra .vst3 folder to C:\Program Files\Common Files\VST3. Restart or rescan your DAW afterwards.
How do I install Noctra on macOS?
Download Noctra_1.8_macOS.pkg, open it and follow the installer. It installs both the AU and VST3 versions automatically. Restart or rescan your DAW afterwards. The installer is signed and notarized for macOS.
How do I download it?
After purchase, FastSpring sends an order confirmation with separate Windows and macOS downloads. Both are included in the same purchase. Keep that email. Lost access? Contact support with your order email or order ID.
Can I use it in commercial projects?
Yes. Music, beats, sample packs, client work — anything you process with Noctra is yours. You may not redistribute or resell the plugin file itself.

Nightfield Audio is an independent audio software brand from Sweden, created after seven years of producing music.
Noctra started as a tool for our own projects. Making a simple sound feel interesting often meant loading several plugins, building long effect chains and still not getting a result that felt right.
